Rally Maps Privacy Policy

Rally Maps is developed and operated by MyGenesis.io. Rally Maps is a rally-focused GPS track navigation application designed to allow users to import, plan, prepare, navigate, and complete off-road and adventure riding tracks.

This Privacy Policy explains how Rally Maps handles information when you use the application.

1. Information We Handle

Rally Maps may process the following information as part of providing its functionality.

1.1 Location and GPS Information

Rally Maps uses your device's GPS/location functionality to provide navigation and track-following features.

GPS information may be used to:

• Show your current position on the map.
• Follow a saved or active track.
• Measure your position relative to the planned track.
• Detect when you are off-track.
• Calculate distance and navigation information.
• Support track recovery and resume functionality.
• Provide waypoint and navigation alerts.
• Record information associated with a completed ride where the user chooses to save the ride.

Location information is used to provide the navigation functionality of the application.

1.2 Tracks and GPX Files

Rally Maps allows users to import, create, edit, save, export and navigate tracks.

This may include:

• GPX files imported by the user.
• Track coordinates.
• Waypoints.
• Track names.
• Track distance and related navigation information.
• User-created route points.
• Start, finish, checkpoint, fuel, service, gate, water, danger and other waypoint information.
• Ride/session information created while using the application.

Tracks and related information may be stored locally on the user's device so that the application can provide offline functionality.

1.3 Map and Search Information

Rally Maps supports online maps and connected map/search functionality when network connectivity is available.

When these features are used, information required to perform the map or search request may be transmitted to the relevant third-party map or search service.

Those third-party services may have their own privacy policies and terms of service.

2. Offline Functionality

Rally Maps is designed to support offline preparation and navigation.

Where the application stores tracks, map data, session information or related navigation information locally, that information remains on the user's device unless the user exports, shares, deletes, or otherwise transfers it using functionality provided by the application or device.

Offline operation is an important part of Rally Maps and is designed to allow navigation to continue when connectivity is unavailable.

3. How We Use Information

Information processed by Rally Maps is used to provide and improve the application's functionality, including:

• GPS navigation.
• Track following.
• Track planning and editing.
• Offline navigation.
• Track import and export.
• Off-track detection and recovery.
• Ride/session resume functionality.
• Waypoint alerts.
• Distance and navigation calculations.
• Map display.
• Search functionality when connectivity is available.
• Application operation, troubleshooting and security.

We do not use your track or location information for purposes unrelated to providing Rally Maps unless separately disclosed and, where required, authorised by you.

4. Data Storage

Rally Maps is designed with local storage of tracks, map-related information and navigation/session data as part of its offline-first functionality.

The application does not require your tracks to be stored on MyGenesis.io servers for the core offline navigation functionality described in the application specification.

If future versions introduce account-based cloud storage, synchronisation, analytics, advertising or other services that materially change how personal information is processed, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

5. Sharing of Information

MyGenesis.io does not sell your personal information.

Rally Maps does not intentionally share your GPS tracks or location information with other users.

Information may be transmitted to third-party services when required to provide functionality that you actively use, such as online maps or connected search.

Third-party services operate under their own privacy policies. You should review the privacy policies of any third-party services accessed through Rally Maps.

6. Device Permissions

Depending on the features you use, Rally Maps may request access to device capabilities such as:

• Location/GPS.
• Device storage or file access for importing and exporting GPX files.
• Network connectivity for online maps and search.
• Bluetooth or related device connectivity where supported by the application.
• Other device capabilities required for features you choose to use.

You can manage application permissions through your device's operating system settings.

If you deny a required permission, certain Rally Maps features may not function correctly.

7. Bluetooth and Hardware Controls

Rally Maps may support hardware controls and Bluetooth-related functionality for navigation controls where supported by the application and device.

Such functionality may allow controls such as:

• Zoom in.
• Zoom out.
• Centre the map.
• Lock or unlock navigation controls.
• Acknowledge waypoint alerts.
• Protected stop functionality.

Rally Maps only uses these capabilities to provide the associated application functionality.

8. Analytics and Advertising

Rally Maps is not designed to use your GPS tracks or navigation information for targeted advertising.

This Privacy Policy does not assume the use of advertising networks or analytics services that are not part of the current Rally Maps implementation.

If analytics, advertising or other third-party tracking technologies are introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe those technologies and their purposes.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Information stored locally by Rally Maps remains on your device until it is deleted by you, removed through application functionality, removed when application data is cleared, or otherwise deleted through your device's operating system.

Users can delete saved tracks and related information using the functionality provided by Rally Maps.

Exported GPX files or other copies of your information may remain wherever you have chosen to save or share them. MyGenesis.io cannot delete copies that have been saved outside the Rally Maps application.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of the application to protect information processed by Rally Maps.

Because Rally Maps supports local/offline storage, the security of information stored on your device also depends on the security of your device, operating system, access controls and physical environment.

We recommend using appropriate device security, including a screen lock and current operating-system security updates.

11. Children's Privacy

Rally Maps is intended for general use and is not specifically directed at children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through Rally Maps for purposes unrelated to providing the application's functionality.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can investigate the matter.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and the laws applicable to you, you may have rights regarding your personal information.

These may include the right to:

• Request access to personal information held about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of personal information where legally applicable.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
• Lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority.

For users in South Africa, applicable rights are governed in particular by the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

When you use an online feature, information necessary for that feature may be sent to the applicable third-party service.

The privacy practices of those providers are governed by their respective privacy policies.

Rally Maps does not control the privacy practices of independent third-party service providers.

We may update this Privacy Policy when Rally Maps functionality, applicable laws or our data practices change.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
